THE DADA TOP
THE DADA TOP
The Parron Allen Dada Top
This garment is inspired by one of my favorite art movements, “Dada,” when artists rejected modern society’s logic and reason in exchange for expressing nonsense and irrationality.
This shirt reflects my sartorial take on this randomness. I had fun subverting the conventional button up shirt, updating it into something askew and jumbled yet still beautiful. It features an asymmetrical hem, collar at the shoulder, and if you need a pocket, there’s a mystery pocket in there, as well.
From 1916 through the mid-1920s, Dadaists mocked society's repressive boundaries and tore at its conventions with complete irreverence. At Dada's core was the aim to disempower authority and undermine tradition, while empowering the 'free-thinking individual'.
With this top you can just go to town coming up with new ways to wear it. You can be the artist with this piece!
It’s beautifully crafted in poplin shirting in my Cinnamon and Midnight Navy color ways.
