My Pink and Yellow Color Story for Fall

On what was likely to be one of the last warm days of 2018, we went for an afternoon walk around the neighborhood - hunting for inspiration and a snack. Our first stop was Parkside Creamery - the ice cream and coffee shop on the corner (because that’s a thing in Brooklyn!) - and I had a cup of watermelon sorbet. It was delicious and had a beautiful pale blush pink color.

Walking further up the street, we stopped in at Erv’s on Beekman - a cool laundromat-turned-cocktail-bar - for an afternoon drink (yes, this place also exists). I ordered the Mellow Yellow because I loved the name (think GAP commercial from the 90s) and it had gin and elderberry, so I figured I couldn’t go wrong!

The drink and sorbet were delicious (individually and together) and made a beautiful palette against Erv’s porous marble tabletop.

I know we’re headed into fall and pumpkin spice everything, but I thought it might be nice to share an unexpected pallet of cheery pastels. There’s also a TLC shirt in there - maybe I’m still channeling my inner child, because there’s a lot of 90s going on in this post. Anyway, the colors are a mix of warm traditional autumn colors - yellow ochre, tan - and some less conventional - blush, pastel orange, day glo yellow that work for a fun and eclectic fall look.

What unconventional colors inspire your fall look?
